• to gather, manage and diffuse the maximum of information possible on the distribution and the ecology of fauna in Switzerland;
  
  
• to collaborate with public or private institutions of environmental protection, nature and landscape to ensure the conservation of the species and their habitats;
  
  
• to encourage and coordinate eco-faunal research in Switzerland;
  
  
• to rationalise and standardise the methods of data acquisition on the field as in the collections;
  
  
• to maintain and reinforce the existing links between Swiss faunal research and that carried out abroad, in order to promote faunal research in a vaster biogeographic context;
  
  
• to promote and participate in the production of documents that identify Swiss fauna and their habitats
