with the invaluable assistance from the representatives of the Odonatologues group of Switzerland: Rene Hoess (Bern, BE), Christian Keim (Martigny, VS), Tiziano Maddalena (Gordevio, TI), Alain Maibach (Oron-la-Ville, VD), Claude Meier (Zurich, ZH), Peter Weidmann (Coire, GR.) and Hansruedi Wildermuth (Rüti, ZH).
Operational phase: 1999 - 2002
Summary
The project Odonata 2000 made it possible to gather more than 40' 000 pieces of new data by re-sampling of known sites and prospective sampling of new sites. No less than 97' 000 pieces of data were used to carry out the analysis of the RL status of species by adopting the new criteria suggested by the UICN (version 2001). The results obtained were published by the OFEFP in December 2002 in the notes on the environment under the title "Red List of threatened dragonflies of Switzerland". This document replaces the RL published by Maibach & Meier (in Duelli 1994).

New atlas of distribution
The great amount of unpublished chorological and ecological data gathered within the framework of this project has justified the re-publication of the Atlas of distribution of Dragonflies of Switzerland, which the first edition was published in 1987.This work, illustrated by new plates by the famous naturalist painter Paul-André Robert, was published in 2005 in the Fauna Helvetica series.
