Description
The objective of this project is to up-date the red list of terrestrial Molluscs of Switzerland (TURNER, WÜTRICH & RUETSCHI IN DUELLI 1994). This project, planned over four years, envisages the re-sampling of 815 Km2 chosen by means of an analysis that takes into account the optimal number of target species previously mentioned for each area. The prospective sampling of squared kilometres never previously studied is also envisaged, the exact number however not yet being decided.
Data source
The project benefits from the data collected during the research for the Atlas of Molluscs (TURNER & al 1998) and is supplemented by all recent data from voluntary collaborators.
Preliminary processing
This phase took place in 2004. It particularly allowed:
- to test a field method adapted to the qualitative sampling of populations at each selected site;
- to form about thirty collaborators to identify the easy species and gather reference individuals for all species on the field;
- to choose the various sites to be prospected during the operational phase.
Operational phase
2005 - 2009. In progress
