Beschrieb
The objective of this project is to test if the production of the new red lists for soil Macroinvertebrates by means of the UICN categories and criteria is possible, taking into account the great number of species concerned and the strong variability in their ecology. It aims:

  • to precisely define which groups could be taken into account in addition to the Carabidae Coleoptera and the spiders
  • to gather, encode and to analyse all data available in Switzerland on the selected groups
  • to develop a protocol and a sampling framework on the scale of Switzerland (prospective sampling and re-sampling)
  • to evaluate the human and financial resources essential to reach our goals

Source data
The project benefits from the data which allowed the publication of the Atlas on the distribution of Carabidae Coleoptera of Switzerland (MARGGI, 1992), regularly brought up to date, and it benefits also from at least a part of the available data collected on spiders. As these two groups are bio-indicators which have been recognised for a long time and thus regularly studied in parallel, the data available often originates from identical projects: epigeous macrofauna of the agricultural environments, the high and low marshes and the meagre lawns of various areas of the country for example.

Preliminary processing
The processing began in August 2005 and will finish in August 2007.
