Requesting data
Written requests
The CSCF answers any request for information to the extent of its means and the information it has. Their diffusion however is subject to certain rules defined in its code of ethics.
The result of the request is given either in the form of a printed list (fax, postal mail), or by e-mail as an attached file (format xls).
The requests for data must be written (postal mail, fax, e-mail) and have to contain following information:
- name of the investigator and a short description of the concerned study
- faunal groups or species eventually concerned
- boundaries of the concerned zone (the simplest solution: copy of map)
- aim/s set and future use of the data obtained
- delivery delays of the requested data (minimum 3 working days)
The status of the applicant will determine if the service provided is invoiced or not. It is free for requests originating directly from institutions which support the CSCF, from its regular voluntary collaborators and requests within the framework of scientific studies envisaging an exchange of information. It is limited to a fixed price for requests carried out by third parties on federal and cantonal mandates. In other cases a time tariff of 120. - is applied.

Interactive questioning
Two online data servers are at your disposal, the nature of the data provided being in perfect agreement with the code of ethics which the CSCF set. Thus the resolution which is used for representation and requests corresponds to a grid of 5x5 km.
Before giving you free access to these data servers we ask you to carefully read the following.

© copyright: In case of publication or of presentation of the data coming from these servers, the CSCF as well as the name of the observers having provided all or part of the data must imperatively be quoted.
Assessments
From the information contained in the database, various scientific assessments are possible on request. These assessments can be only carried out on the base on real observations or of an evaluation of the probability of the species presence in the site, the environment or the area considered:
- evaluation by comparison of the quality of sites, environments, areas, etc.
- determination of reservoirs with high faunal diversity useful for the tracing of functional ecological networks
- checking biological models requiring faunal data on a broad scale
- cross analyses of fauna and environment
- statistical analyses and cartographic representation of a data set
Invoicing
The services that the CSCF offers to its regular collaborators and also to the institutions members of the foundation or the ones which finance the CSCF (Confederation, Pro Natura, the University and the communes of Neuchâtel) are free. They are invoiced in all the other cases.
