Follow-up to the biodiversity

Z3/Z4 indicators

In collaboration with the follow-up project on the evolution of the biodiversity in Switzerland (BDM-CH), the CSCF is in charge of annually providing the proof of the presence of all the species of Odonata, Rhopalocera and Orthoptera for each biogeographic area of Switzerland (the Jura, Plateau, Northern flanks of the Alps, Western internal Alps, Eastern internal Alps, Southern flanks of the Alps).  This information corresponds to the Z3/Z4 indicators of BDM-CH.

Taking into account the important projects which are currently in hand (BDM-CH Z7/Z9, national revision strategy of the red lists in particular), to prove the presence of the species of these three groups can appear easy for such great areas.

The accumulated experience however shows that problems emerge already on this level, in particular for very rare, not easily observed species and/or species confined to areas or environments which have been scarcely, or not prospected. Even if targeted research is launched each year to obtain new information for some species, their number is however insufficient to cover the whole of the annual gaps in knowledge.  In this context any complementary help is welcome.

Information presented here summarises the current state of knowledge for the three selected groups and the six areas concerned.  If you have original information even if only for one of the species or one of the areas on these lists do not hesitate to provide us with it! This can be essential!
